The Ball-Watson Community Engagement Foundation awarded a college scholarship in the amount of $2,000, along with a MacBook Air, at the annual Jenkins County High School Honors & Awards Ceremony on May 8, 2017.

Alischia McGee, a senior at Jenkins County High, received the inaugural Bridge Scholarship, an award that will continue to be presented annually. McGee, who received a number of awards and scholastic recognition throughout the night, was accompanied by her proud parents and siblings.

“I just want to thank my parents, and all the people who helped me, and the people who encouraged me, and the people who saw something in me to want to give me this scholarship. Thank you all so much!” said McGee.

The BWCEF Bridge Scholarship was established by Millen, GA natives, Charles Watson, Jr. and Mario Ball, based upon their conviction that when individuals from smaller communities and lower income families are given the tools to succeed. they excel.

“This Foundation sees higher education as a force of positive change; a force that certainly changes the community, and engages everyone in support of this initiative.” said Ball, one the scholarship’s founders.
